Reducing greenhouse gas emissions associated with ruminant livestock production is important for climate change mitigation. Regenerative Agriculture (RA) practices are increasingly promoted to improve forage and performance in temperate systems. These include i) rotational grazing (RG) of around multiple subunits pasture achieve ungrazed periods ‘rest’, ii) herbal leys (HL), where perennial forbs such as chicory, lucerne trefoils included components multi-species swards. While there plausible mechanisms adoption these agricultural productivity, quantitative syntheses their impacts required. Here, we conduct a systematic review meta-analysis the effects RG HL on herbage dry matter (DM) production, animal daily liveweight gain (DLWG), sheep wool growth oceanic regions. We use predictors our Bayesian hierarchical models investigate role rest period stocking density systems, specific plant traits sward diversity HL. found that DM increased by 0.31 t.ha?1 over growing season proportion an system from 0 1.
